Functionality

The few speed settings of this blender do not incapacitate it; rather, it helps the blender to be much more precise in functioning and eventually to provide you with excellent results. However, it needs extra effort and time to blend tough, frozen, or leafy ingredients, or else you will be left with a grainy consistency. The blender also requires sufficient liquid to be added along with whatever ingredients. Thick textures can hinder the blades from running.

The overall performance of the blender is impressive, and all you need to do to make it better is blend for a little longer time, but also don’t forget to take breaks in between to avoid overheating.

You cannot use the KitchenAid Diamond to blend hot ingredients, but the blade’s movement can create enough friction to make hot soup from scratch. Also, the blender would not pass as a juice extractor, but it can make whole juice and not milk from any nuts or seeds.

To make butter with this blender, you have to soak the nuts for a few hours before blending. The blender is also an excellent ice-crusher, either with the pulse function or speed settings designed to crush ice. Lastly, You can mix butter but not dough with the blender too.

Controls

As the name implies, the KitchenAid 5-speed Diamond blender has five-speed settings represented by five buttons on the control panel, one for each of the following: stir, mix, chop, puree, and liquefy. It is also equipped with buttons for a pulse, power, and ice-crushing preset program.

To operate the blender, you first press the power button and any other button of your chosen function. The control panel design is similar to that of the other models, only the button types differ.

This simple control interface is one of the reasons the KitchenAid Diamond blender is a perfect choice for beginners and others that like to keep things simple.

Motor and Blade

The motor unit of the KitchenAid 5-speed blender is not very powerful (just about 671 watts) but don’t write it off just yet. The low power does not hinder the blender from performing well, and the base design is quite sturdy. However, the low power does not ensure low noise.

The KitchenAid Diamond blender is quite noisy, so you may not be able to use it too early in the morning to avoid waking everyone up. Its blades are inbuilt in the jar, and they are strong and durable stainless steel blades. They are very sharp and can dull quickly if frequently used. The strengths of the blades and the power of the motor are responsible for the effectiveness of the machine. However, one downside we found in the machine is the plastic gears used, which would wear off very easily.

Container and Accessories

The KitchenAid 5-speed blender models all come with quality, dishwasher-safe and durable plastic materials; they do not crack easily or break when they hit the floor. This model has a diamond-shaped container, unlike the other models, and it is larger by 60 oz. capacity.  If you want more than one container, you should consider the KSB655 that comes with another 24 oz. container. The lid is right and comes with a measuring cup. There is no tamper or substitute for it in the set.

Care and Cleaning

You are advised to clean the blender immediately after use to avoid accumulations that may become harmful to you in the future. However, this should be easy as the blender can self-clean. You only need to add a little soap and water, run for a few seconds, then rinse with clean water. Better still, you can place the jar and lid in the dishwasher for cleaning since the containers are BPA- free and dishwasher safe.

You won’t find assembling and disassembling difficult since it only takes a clockwise and counterclockwise rotation to achieve that.

Warranty and Replacements

The KitchenAid blender comes with a five-year warranty, and the customer service is usually helpful. If you want an extended warranty period, you can purchase the blender via the brand’s website at a higher price. You can also purchase an extended warranty via Amazon.
